Second Wind

What we are building

Second Wind helps adults aged 18 and over who could not finish school, or who need new skills for work. We are building and piloting a platform that tests how Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, can show each learner where to focus next.

It is for adults only. Learners need no prior qualifications, and volunteer mentors are welcome to join.

How it works

1. A learner completes quizzes and writes short answers on lessons created by volunteer mentors.
2. Claude reads the quiz results and written work and summarizes strengths and weak areas.
3. Claude recommends which lessons the learner should take next.
4. Mentors can see every summary and recommendation and can change it.

Learners do not chat directly with the AI. Summaries are suggestions, not grades.

Free for learners

Learning on Second Wind is free. If we accept donations, they will be optional, and no lesson or feature will be locked behind them.

Privacy and safety

• We aim to collect as little personal information as possible and will not ask for sensitive details.
• We send Claude only the quiz results and written work needed for a summary, not names or contact details.
• AI can make mistakes, so mentors can review and override any recommendation.
• The platform is for users 18 and over. Learners will confirm they are 18 or older when they sign up.

About the founder

Second Wind was started by an educator who believes AI can make learning more accessible. We aim to show that AI can be used responsibly and usefully in education, with teachers and mentors in control.
